About This Blog

Welcome to Hudson Valley Free and Fun, the place to learn about no and low cost places to visit, things to see and do in the lower Hudson Valley.

Maybe you're a parent who's had it with your kids tied to their computer games, or it's school break in the winter and you don't want to shell out big bucks in order to have a family day together.  Is is summertime, and you're planning a staycation? Or maybe you're a visitor to our beautiful and historic region, and you're looking for something special to do.  Are you looking to impress someone with a great or unique  first date?  Are you, perhaps, a social worker at a senior center looking for an affordable day trip?

If you are any of the above, or anyone else, you've come to the right place.  This blog is all about accessing the hidden or little known "no admission charged" treasures of the Hudson Valley region.

That being said, please note: while I'm all about the free stuff, there may be attendant fees like parking, tolls, extra special exhibits, etc.  I will always make sure to point those out for you so that you can get a truer picture of just how much your outing will cost.  Occasionally I might also review an attraction or event that charges a small admission fee, but which, in my opinion, offers so much more in value than the fee that it's almost as good as free. But I'll never tell you that $10.00 a person or $13.00 per person is "cheap."

Finally, a simple disclaimer:  I'm only posting about places, activities or events.  I do not, by any means, endorse any political or religious position or any other point of view that might be associated with or espoused by the sponsors of the attraction or events.
